Korean Bibimbap!
Bibimbap sounds fun and cute, doesn’t it? Um, I am so hungry! What do you do to eat when you eat simple but delicious and nutritious Korean food? The answer is Korean Bibimbap! Bibim means mixed and bap means rice. So it means mixed rice bowl. Basically, it is steamed rice with such assorted vegetables as rice, garlic cloves, lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots or zucchini, carrots, bracken, seaweed, mushrooms, red pepper paste, and eggs or minced beef and sesame seed oil on top! Um, smells delicious! 😛 Now, let’s find out on how to make Korean Bibimbap!
Korean Bibimbap Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/2 cups cooked rice (sticky/sushi rice can be better)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup lettuce
- 1/2 cup bean sprouts
- 1/2 cup julienned cucumber or zucchini
- 1/2 cup sliced carrots
- 1/2 cup bracken
- 2 sheets of nori seaweed, sliced
- 1/2 cup mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon red chili paste or more 😉
- 1 or 2 eggs or 3 spoons of minced beef depending on how much protein you would like
- 1 teaspoon sesame seed oil
- 1/4 cup kimchi or not (You can eat it separately. I would)
DIRECTIONS
- Combine the cooked rice and garlic.
- Mix them carefully (Tip: I would mix with chopsticks not to crush rice)
- Enjoy while hot!
Just to let you know the ingredients of Korean Bibimbap can variable depending on a region and how you want it. It can be served in a traditional metal bowl or hot stone bowl. However, you could be worried if you are a vegetarian. Then, just take out eggs or beef. Ask an owner of a restaurant that you do not need them.
