Kimchi Jjigae is one of the most common foods that Koreans eat very often. Jjigae basically means stew with more stuff in it whereas soup is more simple than stew. Therefore, stew or jjigae is stronger than soup. You will see both Kimchi jjigae and soup. There is a saying related with Kimchi soup.

Don’t drink Kimchi soup before a good event actually happens.

This means that you should not be over confident about a good possible and potential event that will be likely to happen to you in the near future.
